Aykut's Personal Blog

Hello!

This is the personal blog of Aykut.
That’s all there’s to it.

I’m new here - give me some time.

About Me

Name’s Aykut. Tilki (Fox) is the name given to me by some friends back in Istanbul. After years of being called Tilki, I visited my grandfather’s village in the north of Turkey and learned that my grandfather’s father was called Tilki Ahmet, and my father’s niece, who was 10 years old back then, was called Tilki Ayşe. That’s when I fully embraced the name and decided to go with it.

Since March, I’ve been living in that village, working on my master’s thesis, and learning about gardening, home brewing, fermentation, and foraging. Because my thesis involves a great deal of Buddhism, I also started practicing yoga and meditation.

I am currently pursuing an MA in American Studies at Goethe University, Frankfurt. My thesis focuses on the poetry of Gary Snyder, particularly its relation to place and the vitality of the material world. I have a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Istanbul University.
